The Cephalofair Executive Team Expands

The Cephalofair Executive Team Expands
Julie Ahern Joins as COO.
Price Johnson Steps Up as CEO.

Cephalofair Games is excited to announce the expansion of our 'Epic Strategy' team with the hire of Julie Ahern, as Chief Operating Officer. Price Johnson steps up as CEO.

Julie Ahern joins the team responsible for GLOOMHAVEN, bringing with her 15 years of experience across all areas of tabletop publishing and management, and an even longer love of all things dark fantasy and macabre.

As the former COO and Vice President of Greenbrier Games, she oversaw the day-to-day of business operations and game development, while contributing meaningfully to the FOLKLORE: THE AFFLICTION and ZPOCALYPSE product lines.

Julie served most recently as Senior Director of Operations with Van Ryder Games, known for its award winning FINAL GIRL, DETECTIVE: CITY OF ANGELS, and most recently TALES OF MYTH AND LEGEND. In this role she independently developed, managed, and coordinated manufacturing alongside a growing and evolving team.

Julie is my absolute favorite person in the board game industry (sorry Price!), and I could not be happier to welcome her to the team,” says Isaac Childres, Cephalofair’s owner. “I think she is the perfect fit for a needed role in this transition that allows me to focus on my core passion: designing epic, strategic games. Thanks Julie!"

Growing as an organization means surrounding ourselves with professionals who not only compliment our core strengths, but exceed many of our own,” says Price Johnson, Cephalofair’s previous COO. “Julie Ahern is one of those professionals I've long admired as a leader, innovator, and tabletop enthusiast. From coffees at conventions to shared manufacturing trips in China, I'm thrilled to finally have the opportunity to work directly alongside her as Cephalofair enters its next chapter.

I have known and respected Isaac and Price for many years.says Julie, about her new role at Cephalofair. While I loved my time at Van Ryder Games, it is a genuine pleasure to start this new adventure. I am thrilled to delve into the Gloomhaven universe with all its deep lore and challenging campaigns.”

A strategic move in the making, Cephalofair owner Isaac Childres will focus solely on his role as Lead Game Designer, continuing to oversee design and development on Cephalofair’s entire line of award-winning games, including the big-box campaign game lines Cephalofair is known best for: GLOOMHAVEN, JAWS OF THE LION, and FROSTHAVEN. Isaac has several new and exciting projects slated for release, including GLOOMHAVEN: THE ROLE PLAYING GAME and an expansion to GLOOMHAVEN: BUTTONS & BUGS.

Former Chief Operating Officer, Price Johnson, will be stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer, while continuing to oversee strategic initiatives, business development, sales/marketing, & catalogue growth.

Price Johnson brings 9 years of experience with Cephalofair Games, leading the charge on business development. He has overseen strategic initiatives such as mass market placement of JAWS OF THE LION, overseeing marketing & production of the record-breaking FROSTHAVEN crowdfunding project, navigating major industry disruptions during the COVID pandemic, and advocacy surrounding year-long unlawful tariffs on the company’s core business

Working with Isaac since the early release days of Gloomhaven to grow both Cephalofair and our community has been an absolute privilege and highlight of my career.says Price, about his shared journey with designer Isaac Childres. “We have come a long way since the early days of indie game design and crowdfunding, while learning a lot about ourselves and this industry in the process. I can't wait to share the exciting plans we have creatively and organizationally in this next chapter with our fans, but that starts by putting in the hard work alongside our amazing team, whom I thank for their trust and support. With confidence, there is no place I’d rather be...Epic Strategy Awaits!”
